Finance for the Non-specialist by Janet Walker |
|
Having a basic understanding of the financial management of their organisation is a real challenge for some people. And it this which makes this book so valuable, offering managers at all levels an insight into both financial and management accounting in a clear and accessible way. There are occasional points where one has to stop and re-read something to make sense of it, but in general it is a very simple process to work through each chapter and get a grasp on some very important topics. What's more, the particular characteristics of non-for-profit organisations are not ignored, and their particular accounting practices are explained in enough detail for any manager. Who could use it? The answer is, any manager, at any level, in any size or type of organisation, who wants to know about finance without having to plough through all the details contained in a standard accounting textbook. Its clean layout and easy-going style add to this accessibility, and make it a useful reference book as well as a first class introduction to the subject. |
